Dr. Oetker looking for more insight into the effectiveness of their packaging lines
At dr. Oetker in Leeuwarden, people want insight into the effectiveness of their packaging lines. With some regularity the lines have disturbances of which it is not possible to find out the reason for this. A system that calculates the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) in real time offers a solution for this.
MES solution
at dr. Oetker had been using an OEE system for a number of years. Unfortunately, the system did not work properly. Especially the reading of the counters was unreliable. That is why we were asked to supply a new OEE system. Batenburg Beenen has solved this issue with the MES solution from Objective, partner of Batenburg Beenen. To the care of Dr. Oetker with regard to the reliability and correctness of the data is first placed a proof of concept.
“By proactively deploying a Proof of Concept, unnecessary costs were reduced to a minimum and the investment was well-considered.”
Michael Schubert, Dr. Oetker
The ultimate solution aims to gain insight into the current OEE information about five packaging lines. MES determines this information based on, among other things, current orders, item and line data and the OEE reason tree. In the event of a disruption, operators choose the reason and can add a comment if necessary. All registrations are collected centrally, enabling analyzes and reports at product/shift/day level.
Several product counters and rejection counters are read in via a Siemens PLC. Batenburg Beenen took care of supplying, installing, programming and connecting the necessary panels to the communication PLC and cabling for the signal exchange with the lines. dr. This completely relieves Oetker for the complete solution.
Additional functionalities are now being investigated, such as a link with the ERP system so that article data is automatically linked and instructions for the operators so that the paper versions are no longer needed.
